AO Callisto Solar Radio Spectrometer

A Callisto Solar Radio Spectrometer was installed at the Arecibo Observatory. It began routine monitoring of the Sun starting 10 October 2021 in the frequency range of 10 – 120 MHz. Observations are made daily in the time interval of 06:30 AM to 05:30 PM AST.
On 28 October 2021, an intense flare occurred on the Sun, followed by a fast and wide coronal mass ejection (CME). The radio manifestations associated with the above flare/CME were recorded by the AO Callisto. The figure below shows the spectrum observed in the frequency range of 20 – 90 MHz. Further study of this event is in progress.
